Update to last blog

I mentioned in the last blog that Kyara had boots on to help stop her from plantar-flexing (like pressing a gas pedal). I said she would wear them 24/7, but that is not right. She is actually going to wear them 4 hours on, 4 hours off. She will also be getting gloves for her hands to stop her fingers from contracting. They should be getting these for her tomorrow.

Also, the question has been raised as to whether or not Kyara is still sedated with any medications. The answer is no. She does not have any sedation medications. She is in this coma-like state because of the injury to her brain, not because the doctors are medicating her.

I pray that tomorrow will have more positive baby steps and that Kyara is on her way to recovery.

Genie & Gunnars,

I just wanted to let you know that we are still praying for you all. I know this is the biggest challenge you all have ever faced, but I know you'll pull through it with your own strength and with God's as well. Kyara is such a precious girl, she's your tough girl and she's always been so brave. Gracie drew the girls some pictures and is writing a letter to Skylar and Kyara. I will send it when she is done. We love you all and wish we could be there to hold Kyara's hand too.

Genie, You may not remember me but Gunars coached our son, Jake in soccer. I'd been checking Kyara's page here and there and thinking about your family. I just checked back in and am so sorry to hear of her setback. Jake, Elise and I will say an extra prayer for her and your family tonight. Hang in there and know that Kyara has alot of people pulling for her!
Love,

Genie I found this and thought of you:

"The prayer of the heart is the prayer of intimacy. It is the prayer of love and tenderness of a child to Father God. Like a mother hen, who gathers her chicks under her wings, we, through the prayer of the heart, allow God to gather himself--to hold us,to coddle us, to love us."
--Richard Foster,from
Prayer:Finding the Heart's True Home

Even when you feel like all you can do is pray and trust in God, remember he is listening. God is holding you in his arms too (and it is okay to let him love you while he is taking care of Kyara). When you feel like you can't cry out to anyone, God is holding you and listening. He takes care of your needs so you will be the strong "mother hen" for not only Kyara, but the girls too.

Please know that we are all praying for Kyara, but praying for each one of you and your needs as well. Keep us posted!
Hollie Sisk
Jon, EmmaLaine, and Samuel too!

Genie, your friend Fran Dennis Wilson is also a friend of mine. We are both from Dodge County. I knew your grandmother, Mrs. Genie Leonard, very well when I was growing up. I loved going to Easter egg hunts at her home.
Your lovely little Kyara is in my prayers and thoughts, as well as you, Gunars, and the rest of the family.
With love,
