Day 7...PICC Line Is In

The nurse today was able to get the PICC Line in Kyara left arm, so hopefully she will be able to have the central line in her leg taken out. The central line was placed during her arrest, so it was emergent and not completely sterile.

Both the neurologists and Dan were pleased with Kyara's movements today. She had more purpose in her movements. Dan bent Kyara's knees to a 90 degree angle and told her to hold them while he gave them little pushes. She held them there. Later, she did the same for me, so we are encouraged by these things. Tomorrow Dan wants to help her sit on the edge of bed and see if that will stimulate anything. Each day she is getting a little better. Although she is still not tracking with her eyes, she is startled at times by sudden noises. We think Kyara is hearing better.

We are looking forward to tomorrow and seeing what Kyara has in store for us.

OH, Genie,
I am so tickled with Kyara's progress. She is one special girl. So much determination and fight in such a little package. I have no doubt God is working a Miracle here. Megan was super excited to see Kyara's eyes opened and to hear she is improving. We will continue to pray for all of you and to Thank the Lord for all He has done and will continue to do for Kyara and your family.
Give Skylar a hug from Megan and tell her she hopes they can have a play date when you return to Ga.
Thank you sooo much for the updates, we anxiously await each one and rejoice with every sign of improvement.
Slow and steady wins the race. Go, Kyara, Go!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
you don't know me, but my son goes to Cornerstone as well, and I am a good friend of Kelly Spradlin. I remebered praying for your daughter when she first got ill a couple years ago. I had no idea of what had happened since. I want you to know that I am praying for her and you. May God give you comfort as you wait for progress!

Genie,
Awesome news! Praise God! A couple of days ago you asked if anyone could recommend a place in the Atl. area for Kyara to continue with physical thereay. My boss is a pt in Peachtree City. I briefed her on Kyara's condition and she recommended Children's healthcare of Atlanta first even as a resource, then Emory Children's center an d Shriners. She said Shepard was awesome for brain and spinal cord injuries, but mostly in teen to adults vs. pediatrics. Her thought is that as Kyara progresses she will need mini pieces of equiptment that Shepard may not have and they would modify existing equipment.
Continuing in prayer!
Much love,
Michele Drew
