Day 10

Here are some pictures from yesterday. Dan is working with Kyara and helping her sit in Gunars' lap. In the other one, Tedra is fixing Kyara's hair after Dan found a wheelchair that will fit Kyara. It was a busy day.
Today was a bit more relaxed. Not a whole lot of change. We got Kyara up and she sat in her chair for a few hours. The doctors took out her arterial line in her leg, so one more thing down. They are going to check on her right chest tube tomorrow or Monday and consider removing it at that time.
Kyara is still not responding to commands, she has been fairly agitated today. Sadly she did not sleep much last night and did not take a nap today. Hopefully she will sleep well tonight. She seems to hear sounds, she is startled by noises, but she does not turn her head in the direction of the noise. She is also still not tracking with her eyes, and today she did not seem to react to light (when they shine a light in her eyes), but they said that with a brain injury, you see some ups and downs with progress. Sometimes they show progress, then it seems to disappear, then comes back, etc. So we are holding tight to the idea that it DID happen and we believe it will happen again.
Kyara has so much to say, we are just waiting to hear it. When we move her or stretch her, Kyara moans and growls at us, which we secretly LOVE! Today she made a very strong expression on her face that was just...Kyara. I know she is in there and I believe she will tell us how it is. I am looking forward to that day.

Kyara continue making those baby steps. Just like what your Mom said you are in there and want to come out but it will take time. We are so proud of you for being so strong. You are truly a miracle little girl. Keep up the good work. We are behind you and wait for your next baby steps. Big hugs and kisses from me and Mrs. Carlisle.

Please know that we continue to pray for you guys. She is so beautiful!! And I know God has big things planned for her. In His time, she will be back up and running and keeping everyone around her on their toes and in stitches.

In our family devotional tonight we were talking about the individual strengths that God has granted each of us, and Timothy said that he was brave. He then added, so is Kyara. It was so sweet to hear him talking about her.

Please know that you are surrounded with love and prayers. Continue to lean on Christ and all those he has put around you, and you will win this race victorious.

Genie, it has been a long time! We went to high school together, don't know if you'll remember or not. I have spent the last hour or so reading the blog here to catch up on what has been going on, and I am truly touched and shocked to hear all that you and your family have gone through over the last few months! My heart goes out to you all, but most of all, my prayers as well! I see in your writings here, God has kept His hand on you and strengthened you for this mighty challenge that has been placed in your life. Continue to lean on Him, let Him be the source of your strength, and you will be fine. I pray with you and the family this evening, that God will touch your little girl, restore her to full health, and that you can all get back home and continue living again! I don't really have all the words for you that I feel inside of me right now, but I do send you my prayers that all will be well with Kyara real soon, and will pass along the news to our churh and others to pray for her! Good luck to you all, keep up the good fight, and we'll be praying for you back here at home!

This just goes to show you God's amazing power and might. Kyara may not be responding to commands but she is still a mighty tool for HIS Glory! Look at how many thousands have been reached throuh her and her story! Even though is seems as though Kyara is the one who needs help, she in her helpless state has helped many!!! I don't know your family but my prayers are certainly with you! Keep fighting the good fight!

Thank you for the pictures. Keep up the fight Kyara. God is so good, and with his help you will come busting out of that fog and once again you will shine, like a little ray of sunshine. We will continue to pray for you and your family, and we look forward to what baby steps you will delight us with tomorrow.
Rest well tonight, sweet dreams little angel, we love you.

We hope that Kyara gets some much deserved rest and we pray that she would give the world one little smile... Oh Genie, how wonderful it would be to see your little angel happy again, but like you said, the growling is so her that even then she makes the world a little brighter place! May today bring better news!

Wow she is looking much better and those small steps seem little but they are huge. Everyday I read I know she is going to get better and better. You can see how deeply loved she is and that in itself can make miracles happen. Thank you for posting the blog, every morning it is the first thing I do.
