In addition to the last post...

The pain doctors adjusted Kyara's medication and she seems much more comfortable now. Her fever has come down some, so the doctors aren't too worried about that anymore. The doctors just did rounds again and the plan is still to take out the breathing tube tomorrow morning. I know that the last post sounded very negative, but I don't mean for it to sound that way. I am using these posts as a way to document everything that is happening and they have been a great release for me, so please understand that Kyara has been/is a strong fighter. The doctors are really quite pleased with how she looks and the way things are going. Nothing has happened that is unexpected by the doctors. She is really doing quite well. The most important thing right now is for her to relax, sleep, and heal. The doctors are doing a great job of making sure she is doing just that.

Genie, you're doing fantastic. I am lucky to have you as my wife. Thanks for saying "I do" on Oct 14, 2000. I would be lost with out you. I love you.

Skylar thanks for being a rock. You have not complained once, and been very supportive. Everybody knows how much Kyara has suffered, how much Mommy and I have struggled, but few realize the toll it has had on you. Yet, you have been so mature and solid. I am so proud of you and love you so much. You are the best oldest sister in the world.

Kyara, your spirit is too strong to let all this bring you down. Like everything else you do, you will come out on top. I wish I had half your strength. I miss you and love you so much.

Kassey, your laughter is my sunshine. I can't be too sad when you're around. I miss you and love you so much.

I am the luckiest guy to end up with a group of strong ladies to call "my family".

Hey Guys,

I met the lovely girls several times at Peggy's old stomping grounds of Flat Rock. We are so pleased that the surgery went well and will continue to pray for a speedy recovery. Keep up the good work Kyara!

Love,
The Vaughn's

I agree with Mary!! Next time start off by telling us that it is a "tissue alert" story! I see Skylar everyday, as she is in my daughters class. She is one strong little girl and a great older sister! You both have every right to just write on this blog. No one can really appreciate what all of you have gone through. Although I have never met you (Gunars, Genie and Kassey), I can tell that you all are wonderful. Kyara and Skylar are 2 very special girls- especially at our school.

I can hardly await to see Kyara (even if it is just in pictures )without all those IV.s from her body. I like when you talk to us and tell us some stories.
I wish you recover completely very soon.
Love and miss all of you

Genie, you are an inspiration! You're a fantastic mom! You all are a remarkable family!

We will continue to pray that God's healing hands hold Kyara during her recovery. It sounds like y'all are receiving the best medical care at UofM.

The updates are remarkable. Hang in there! :)

Love,
Lorri, Paul, Matthew and Megan
